I love LOVE. For poetry night, my 16 year old daughter Sevan recited a beautiful poem called Երկու Ուրուական, “Two Spirits” in which the repeating line is Ես ու Դու – You and I. Vahan Terian, the poet is telling his love that when they are together, they are two spirits, no one else exists, not even him because they have become one. AKH! SO BEAUTIFUL! That poem inspired this drawing.

I will be making a greeting card of this image too so that you can give it to your sweetheart and profess to them that the definition of love is “You and I.” Here’s the poem along with it’s translation:

Երկու Ուրուական
գրեց Վահան Տէրեան

Ես եմ, դու ես, ես ու դու
Գիշերում այս դիւթական,
Մենք մենակ ենք,- ես ու դու
Ես էլ դու եմ՝ ես չկամ…

In this enchanted night, we are alone, you and I. I am you, I do not exist.

Չկան օրերն ահարկու,
Չկայ ժամ ու ժամանակ,
Ուրուական ենք մենք երկու
Միշտ իրար հետ, միշտ մենակ…

There are no more dark days
Hours and time do not exist,
We are two spirits, always together, always alone.
Մոռացել ենք անցեալում
Տրտունջ, թախիծ ու խաւար. —
Մի ուրիշ լոյս է ցոլում
Մեղմ ու անոյշ մեզ համար…

Suffering, pain and darkness are behind us.
Now, there is a soft, calming light for us.
